MSc in BIOCONTROL SOLUTIONS FOR PLANT HEALTH

To grow the next generation of scientists in plant protection.

Introduction

Implementation of ecofriendly plant production technologies, minimizing the hazards and risks to human health and the environment, is a major challenge worldwide. This challenge is faced by all economic sectors producing or using plants: agriculture, agrifood, cosmetics, pharmaceutics.

Objectives

BOOST MSc objective is to train students to become able to conduct research programs and R&D of eco-friendly plant protection solutions.

Program and content

BOOST training program is unique in France and one of only a few similar international programs. BOOST training is provided in English and conducted within the laboratories of "Université Côte D’Azur" and its academic and industrial partners, located in the Sophia Antipolis Science and Technology Park (Côte d'Azur - Southern France).

Training directly at the premises of the laboratories of “Institut Sophia Agrobiotech (INRA, UCA, CNRS), first laboratory on biocontrol in France.

BOOST MSc program - Year 1 :
Fundamentals: Biology, Digital tools, Law & IP, Management ;
Mentored projects in a professional environment: Research, Development, Expertise ;
Professional 4-month internships in a research laboratory or company.

BOOST MSc program - Year 2 :

Course calendar

BOOST MSc program is organized in 4 semesters (1, 2, 3 and 4), over 2 years (MSc1 and MSc2). BOOST students must take a total value of 120 ECTS credits over the 4 semesters to fulfil the requirements of the MSc.

The course begins in September of each year, including lectures, tutorials, seminars and a work-based research project. Semester 2 and 4 will be dedicated to internships and Master thesis. In each semester, students take 30 ECTS credits.

Tuition fees

BOOST MSc program is part of the French National University System, which is heavily subsidised by the government. For EU students, the admission fees and conditions are the same as for a “master national”. For non-EU students, the admission fees are 4000 € / year.

Admission

European and non-European students are welcome to apply to BOOST MSc.

Eligible students hold a bachelor (180 ECTS credits or equivalent with certified translation in English) and wish to specialize in research & innovation on plant genetic improvement, biological control, defense stimulation or biostimulation.

Required English level will be based on proof of good English competencies (TOEFL, TOEIC or equivalent). If application is of interest for BOOST MSc, English level will also be evaluated during BOOST interview by Skype.

Future carreers

As future professionals, students will be provided with the knowledge, know-how and experience to act as researchers, R&D leaders in extension services and industry, or experts in consulting companies, public bodies and NGOs.
