2020 PhD Funding Campaign

Among a lot of other possible fundings, the Information Technologies Doctoral School (ED STIC), the Humanities and Social Sciences Doctoral School (ED DESPEG) and the Digital Systems for Humans Graduate school offer more than 13 PhD fundings without any topical constraints in the domains of DS4H, plus 3 thematic PhD positions (with first PhD registrations in college year 2020-2021).

  • one of them is dedicated to a transdisciplinary topic on Digital and the environment

Discover our 2020 PhD Subjects

  • Attractive salary: doctoral candidates will get a gross salary of ~2380€ as monthly living allowance (please notice this amount may change according to regulatory changes that may occur between now and the beginning of the contract and throughout the contract). In addition, the fellows will get additional money for conference travel and professional equipment.

Please follow the procedure described below to apply to one of our PhD topics:

Subjects in Automatic Control, Signal and Image Processing, Mathematics applied to digital science, Computer science, Electronics:

  1. Identify the PhD topic you wish to apply to from the list below
  2. Fill out this online application form
  3. You will receive an automatic mail containing the address of the advisor to whom you must send your detailed CV immediately.
  4. If your application is selected, the advisor will contact you.
  5. He will then ask you for additional documents to be provided (cover letter, transcripts of your Master, recommandation letters, etc.).
  6. If your application is selected for audition, the advisor will contact you to prepare a 10-minute talk.

Subjects in Human and social sciences:

  1. Identify the PhD topic you wish to apply to from the list below
  2. Send your detailed CV directly to the supervisor whose email address is given in the table.
  3. This advisor will guide you through the selection process.

All documents in PDF format please - If you are interested in several topics, you must repeat your application for each topic.

  • A description of the chosen PhD subject
  • The candidate’s CV
  • A letter of motivation from the candidate
  • If the master is still in progress: the transcripts of at least Master 1 and the first semester of Master 2 (or equivalent) with, if available, the rankings among the master, and a scientific description of the current research internship
  • Else: the Master diploma, a complete transcript of the Master 2 or equivalent, and the dissertation with at least a summary in French or English
  • A letter of the potential PhD supervisor with commitment to supervise the candidate, a description of the knowledge (s)he has of the candidate, and why (s)he chose this candidate on this subject
  • Optionally : recommendation letters and any document likely to support the quality of the triplet

  • The web site to propose PhD subjects as well as the one to upload application files by the PhD supervisors open from March 10th
  • The web site to propose PhD subjects closes on May 4th
  • PhD supervisors must choose their candidate and upload the application folder before May 12th (then, only updates are allowed)
  • Audition of the candidate by DS4H reviewers, in presence of the potential PhD supervisor, from the the beginning of May to June 7th
  • Indicative ranking by the DS4H Scientific and Educational Council on June 8th
  • Final decision by the DS4H Steering Committee on June 9th.
