How to apply

The City of Cannes, UCA, Vivendi / Canal+, Serial Eyes and Canneseries are launching an exceptional program for series writing: the Canneseries Institute, an intensive training residency for series screenwriters.

The goal of the program is to write a short bible and a pilot for an original, short-format series (10 x 10’ or 6 x 26’),
based on the theme proposed by the Canal+ Group.


France / England. 
Love, unlove, brexit and french touch. Imagine a serie set up between England and France in your favorite genre
Considered format : 10x10 or 6x30’.

The selected project if it is tradable may be selected for a development agreement with the Canal + Group,  

An education program

The work of the residents will be guided by top international experts in a program developed by UCA and by Serial Eyes, the Berlin-based writers’ residency, based on its approach to teaching screenwriting in individual and collective workshops. 

The Canal+ Group will also offer master classes given by experts from its different production and distribution entities (Canal+ Création Originale, Studio+, Studiocanal, Studio bagel).

The teaching and discussions of the program will take place in English, while the writing may be completed in English or in French.

Participants will receive a university diploma from UCA at the end of the program and a certificate from the DFFB school. 


A professional training in partnership with an European school network 

The program is prioritely orientated towards the students of our 6 European school partners : Serial Eyes, London Film School (Great-Britain), CEEA (France), Scuela Holden (Italy), Lodz Film School (Poland) and Midpoint (Czech Republic). Other applications may be admissible, please check the admission conditions.

On the 20th of December, 8 applicants will be selected. 


A program fully covered by the Cannes - Vivendi / Canal+ International Chaire

All the costs of the residency, other than those for transportation, will be covered by the Cannes - Vivendi / Canal+ International Chaire. 


The Canneseries Environment

Residents will have access to numerous professional meetings organized by In Development, the Series Creation Forum proposed by Canneseries and MipTV.
