The sustainable financing strategy at Blue Finance (BF) is an innovative approach piloted by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) to provide differentiated investment portfolio through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the management of Marine Park Areas (MPAs). It is uncontestable that conservation should not be equated to as a business; however, it is important to understand that for many years, we have enormously failed to protect our ecosystems with a high rate of species extinction. Despite the creation of international policies and government directives, most efforts have failed. Worse still, the economic situations in majority of the countries is threatening the environmental objectives set forth by the governments as they tackle other non-environmental issues. 

In order for conservation through MPAs to sustain, it has to run as a business endeavor in the context of a challenging economy. This may be implemented through diversified revenue sources and sound financial and business strategies while maintaining its conservation objectives. Lastly, it is important for a robust and comprehensive communication strategies designed for the different stakeholders at different points in the process to be carefully planned. 



At that stage, the immersion project aims to achieve the following objectives: 

1. Develop strategic communication tools that will effectively market MPAs to the different stakeholders involved at different periods in the process (public and private investors, government, and local communities); 

2. Conduct training-needs assessment on the science and administration of MPA in the targeted location; 

3. Provide support for the Visitor Centre project in the targeted location; 

4. Support scientific communication needs of all the overseas projects (i.e. grant and investment proposal writing, reports, newsletters, etc).
