Biography

This cours aims at developing a conceptual and practical understanding of the application of multivariate statistics and modeling in marine biology and ecology.

Learning outcomes

 Students should

  • understand stages of ecological simulation modeling (conceptualization, parametrization, implementation, sensitivity analysis), choose appropriate ecological models, validate, analyze & assess the performance of models, properly interpret outputs and plot results
  • extend the logics from univariate techniques to multivariate frameworks in hypothesis testing (Distances, Clustering, Ordination, Principle Component Analysis...)

Instructors

  • Christophe MOCQUET (UCA, SKEMA)
  • Steeve COMEAU (CNRS, Laboratoire d'Océanographie de Villefranche)
