Innovation Platforms

Innovation platforms were born from the desire of the Université Côte d’Azur to remove barriers between the disciplines as well as those between public and private entities.

The platforms are places of cross-fertilization and unite researchers, instructors, and businesspeople in a collaborative fashion and simultaneously aim at understanding existing solutions, new needs, and the prospects of development in the identified strategic areas.

These innovation platforms have the objectives of:

-            establishing research partnerships,

-             strengthening the link between companies and both initial and continuing training,

-             encouraging expertise and innovation for economic development.

The Université Côte d’Azur has identified two types of innovation platforms.

Référence Centers

The Reference Centers were established to respond to societal challenges in conjunction with the region and its communities on the following three issues:

The Reference Centers ensure effective links and interactions between fundamental research and innovation by public–private partnerships around advanced technological platforms.

Creativity Centers

The creation of the Université Côte d’Azur COMUE (community of universities and institutions) has propelled the establishment of its own platforms tailored to its region. These correspond to two, iconic features of the Côte d’Azur, which are unique in France and internationally renowned:

  • Perfume is the focus of the Creativity Center of Innovation in Fragrance Science. Its goal is to improve the amount and quality of links between the Université Côte d’Azur and companies in the sector through research and development projects and ambitious training programs.
  • Cinema is the subject of the Cannes Storytelling Institute, which was created in partnership with the Cannes Festival and the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Theater, Film, and Television (UCLA TFT). The Institute offers training in screenwriting (full-length features, animation, documentaries, etc.) to students, who will benefit from the mentoring of top international specialists in film writing and production.
