Outreach and International Strategy

Bandeau Strat internationaloe

The international strategy of Université Côte d'Azur (UCA) is driven by the UCAJEDI IDEX Initiative of Excellence.

It seeks to promote:

  • excellence in research, training and innovation,
  • transdisciplinarity, both at the level of basic research and in response to major societal challenges,
  • UCA's role in the dynamics of the regional ecosystem, particularly by fostering entrepreneurship.

Its objectives are to increase:

  • the international visibility of the university and its ecosystem,
  • its influence in particular regions of the world,
  • the attraction of talent.

Three principles guide the international strategic actions of Université Côte d'Azur

  • its projections are based on an analysis of the scientific and socio-economic specializations of excellence of its partners and sites,
  • the initiated collaborations are for the long-term and are producing a quality organization,
  • the sustainability of activities must be guaranteed.

Three major elements have been deployed

The first is to develop close, strengthened partnerships with a small number of world-class universities that share the same strategic vision, similar or highly complementary scientific themes, and that seek to address the same societal or regional challenges. These include the challenges of artificial and digital intelligence, smart & sustainable cities, and issues related to health and aging.

Attention is focused on:

  • the crossborder region and the European Union, with the establishment of a strengthened network of cooperation with Genoa (Italy) and Tampere (Finland),
  • francophone universities such as the Université Laval (Quebec),
  • and finally, knowledge hubs of excellence such as Irvine (California), Utah, Singapore, Shanghai, and Moscow

The second element consists of significantly increasing the presence of Université Côte d'Azur in certain high-growth regions through the creation of partnerships:

  • the Franco-Tunisian campus for African outreach,
  • the UCA collaborative platform for the Balkans in Podgorica (Montenegro),
  • the Danang UCA International Institute of Technology (Vietnam).

The third element concerns the presence of Université Côte d'Azur in major international institutions. In partnership with agencies of the United Nations, the university organizes conferences on major international themes, particularly:

  • Sustainable Development Goals,
  • Industry of the Future,
  • Artificial Intelligence.

These international conferences are aimed at the university public, but also at stakeholders from the Côte d'Azur ecosystem, as part of events such as Innovative City in Nice.
Université Côte d'Azur is also involved in international forums to promote its research, such as the Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation and the United Nations Ocean Conference.
