Research strategy

The research strategy developed by Université Côte d’Azur  is part of an ambitious overall site policy founded on principles of ethics and scientific integrity, and a strong international outlook.

The Research, Valorization and Innovation Department (DRVI) provides operational and administrative support for the research, valorization and innovation activities of Université Côte d'Azur.

The research strategy is particularly focused on developing connections between the academic excellence of research teams and the potential for innovation available in the local ecosystem. This is achieved by creating regional public/private collaboration platforms organized as innovation and partnership institutes, working on topics such as:

  • Smart territory, prevention and risk management.
  • Health, well-being and aging.
  • Digital challenge.
  • Aromas and fragrances.

The driving force behind Université Côte d'Azur is transdisciplinary research in close association with the IDEX UCA JEDI project. Université Côte d'Azur has set up five academies of excellence which bring together researchers from different disciplines in the following areas:

  1. Networks, Information and Digital Society.
  2. Complex systems.
  3. Space, Environment, Risk and Resilience.
  4. Complexity and Diversity of Living Systems.
  5. Human Societies, Ideas and Environments.

The academic programs at Master and PhD level are organized around Graduate Research Schools (EUR), which encourage transdisciplinarity, while developing excellence in their field.

Université Côte d'Azur aims to continue reorganizing its research around structures and initiatives implemented under the impetus of the IDEX project in order to strengthen its international attractiveness, particularly by means of its doctoral research.
