The contest

The Laboratory of Electronics, Antennas and Telecommunications (LEAT) of Université Côte d'Azur,
in partnership with ST, the world semiconductor leader, are challenging your inventiveness!

Set your team, grab your ST’s NUCLEO sensors expansion board, and create the most innovative and fun IoT application.

Only 50 boards distributed, register now!

This contest is organized with the support of the UCA "Networks, Information, and Digital Society" Academy of Excellence.

  1. All developments (software and hardware) must be open and available to the community.
  2. One kit including a B-L072Z-LRWAN1 board and a NUCLEO-L476RG board will be provided for each registered project. Depending on the project needs, additional boards may be provided.
  3. Your projects can use the LoRaWAN network deployed on the SophiaTech campus.
  4. ST will support the installation, debug and optimization during the development of the project.
  5. Please notice that distribution is limited to 50 boards and submitted to validation of the project by the Committee.
  6. Contestant must reside in France and must be able to collect the boards at LEAT administration office after registration.
  7. Participants will showcase their projects as part of a special IoT event on Campus SophiaTech on the 24th of January.
  8. The jury is composed of 2 industrials and 2 academics and will select the 3 most innovative and creative applications.

Projects Scope

The choice of your project topic is completely free. The only limit is your imagination !

As an example, have a look at one of the winner project in 2017: EHKeypad, developed by and Enrico Barberis. EHKeypad is a device with the goal to enhance input capabilities of the smartphone adding physical inputs to it (eg buttons, switches, etc.). Read more on GitHub

Important Dates

Registration will close on the 31st of October.

A tutorial on the boards will be given on November 12, 2 pm

Participants will showcase their projects as part of a special IoT event on Campus SophiaTech on the 24th of January.
