And if the city where the most beautiful stories are celebrated, was also the place where they are written? It was from this idea that the International Chaire of Storytelling was born, an initiative of the city of Cannes and the University of the Côte d'Azur, supported by the Vivendi group and Canal +. Hosted by the University of the Côte d'Azur Foundation, it aims to train tomorrow's talents in the field of writing and creation of content in close connection with the international events hosted in Cannes.

As of 2018, the Chaire will provide two courses dedicated to the writing of feature films and television series. The first, the Storytelling Institute, in partnership with the prestigious UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, will take place over six weeks and end at the Cannes International Film Festival. The second, building upon the new International Cannes Series Festival, will host screenwriters for intensive creative writing work (Writers' Room) for eight weeks.

The selected students will receive a scholarship from the International Chaire of Storytelling, and benefit from the instruction and support of the greatest experts in international film and serial writing and production. Finally, they will have the opportunity to present their work to professionals of the Vivendi group and Canal +.

The selection schedule and course application instructions will be available on this page from 1 July.
