The course Développement Industriel allows students to acquire fundamental knowledge about industrial organization as well as more technical skills in the areas of purchasing, logistics, quality, industrial risks and occupational safety. It also provides theoretical knowledge and operational tools from which it is possible to analyze the complexity of competition and industrial dynamics processes. It thus offers students either direct professional integration or further doctoral studies, in particular through the completion of a CIFRE thesis.

The training is recognized by industrial groups in the region (Amadeus, Arkopharma, Mane, Schneider Electric, Suez, Thales Alenia Space, Thales DMS, Virbac, etc.) but also by start-ups in the service sector. Its dual location (Sophia-Antipolis and Métropole de Nice) makes it a key player in cooperation between the university and businesses, and employment at the local level.

Moreover, since its creation, training has been attached to the GREDEG laboratory (Research Group in Law, Economics, Management) of the CNRS. Supporting excellent research is an important asset for the production, dissemination and application of scientific knowledge.


The industry is evolving and now includes traditional manufacturing and mining activities, but also includes certain market services following the phenomenon of the so-called servicization of industry. The industrial transformation underway requires companies to rethink their production and cooperation strategies, their operating rules but also their governance models. This industry of the future is part of a more global dynamic that takes into account environmental, societal and economic concerns. It goes through an evolution of trades and employment that it is necessary to support.

To better integrate these changes and enter the era of the 4.0 industry, companies need managers capable of making decisions in an uncertain environment and of implementing suitable operational and managerial solutions. Such capabilities are essential in the areas of procurement and supply, logistics, quality, but also safety and security at work.
Companies are therefore looking for executives with a global vision of changes in the industry, knowing in particular how to:
  • Build strategies in a context of transformation;
  • Analyze and control the main industrial risks;
  • Design and deploy responsible value chains;
  • Build and support quality procedures in the company;
  • Analyze, lead and evaluate innovative projects.
In addition to these specific skills which form the course Développement Industriel, there are transversal skills related to the use of data processing tools and software, information systems, the ability to work in a team under constraints or even new methods. creativity in business. It is to all of these needs that the Industrial Development master's degree meets.


Each year, the M2 class organizes a conference on topical issues for industry and service organizations. This event, which takes place in the premises of the GREDEG-CNRS laboratory in Sophia Antipolis, brings together around a hundred participants representing SMEs, large groups, communities but also citizens involved in the industrial and organizational changes of their time around speakers, academics and professionals (private companies, public authorities, etc.), for half a day of debates. The latest editions (late February-early March) focused on: e-reputation (2016), circular economy (2017), Design Thinking (2018) and Industry 4.0 (2019), Industrial Ecology (2021).

The Master DI is open to holders:
  • of an Economics-Management License (obtained in initial training, or in validation of prior learning);
  • of another L3 level diploma after consultation with the educational committee.

It requires a mastery of the French language (C1) and the English language (B2)

Obtaining a work-study contract is an asset in the selection process and students will be able to benefit from the support of the corporate relations department.

An initial selection on file (eligibility) will give rise to an interview with the members of the teaching team. This interview makes it possible to assess the candidate's qualities (interpersonal skills, oral expression, clarity and consistency of the professional project) as well as their motivation. Final admission is after the interview in June.

The selection is based on the following criteria:
  • Knowledge in general economics, industrial and firm economics, quantitative techniques
  • Consistency between the course followed and the diploma envisaged
  • Consistency between the diploma envisaged and the professional project
  • Useful skills acquired through previous experiences
  • Repetitions of classes
  • Obtaining a promise of a professionalization contract or an apprenticeship contract helps support the application.


4 months in Master 1

Possibility of doing an alternating internship from January in master 1 or 2.

Study or internship mobility authorized in Master 1 for one semester.

 The course DI includes professionalization workshops in the form of tutored projects dedicated to professional integration during the two years of training.

School and work experience alternating

For appreticeship students, 1 week in the university and 1week in a company during the course period. Then full time in the company.

The course is backed by the GREDEG laboratory (UMR CNRS 7321) made up of faculty members and researchers in economics, management, law and sociology.
It offers the possibility to students who wish to build an experience of research of excellence and opens the way to a further study in doctorate, in particular by the realization of a thesis financed by a CIFRE device ( Industrial Training Agreements through Research).
