Introduction

Through the complementary perspectives of sociology and anthropology, the Master’s in Social Sciences proposes to capture contemporary dynamics of social transformation and innovation. The following four areas are addressed: Sociological studies and diagnostics (EDS): diagnostic and social innovation, Sociology of computing and the regions (SNT): digital technologies, Anthropology of Techniques and Social Innovation: design, water and sustainable environment (ATIS): environment, Migrations studies - option Social sciences (MS): migrations. It focuses on the study of these emerging and shifting fields, but also gives students the means to act on reality.

The Master’s in "Social Sciences" scientifically addresses societal transformation dynamics (digitization, migration, etc.) and regional issues (environment, etc.). It aims to teach through research and to insert students into employment. The four tracks seek to develop the following skills: Anthropology of Techniques and Social Innovation: design, water and sustainable environment ATIS:put the anthropological perspective and ethnographic methods in service of research and intervention projects related to sustainable environment and social innovation. Sociological Studies and Diagnostics EDS: respond to a request from a sponsor and formulate a sociological diagnosis by mastering the techniques of collection and analysis of related data. Migration Studies MS: learn how to tackle migration issues in their different dimensions and complexity through international and multidisciplinary training (social sciences, political science, law) Sociology of Computing and the Regions SNT: train for new digital professions where sociological and economic knowledge is essential, in particular to inform regional public debate.

The Social Sciences tracksaddress societal transformation dynamics and help students integrate into specific professional worlds. The ATIS track trains anthropologists with a strong theoretical and methodological background to understand contemporary societal and environmental issues. Favored fields are social innovation and sustainable development. The EDS track focuses on the empirical dimension of sociological analysis, focusing on the mastery of quantitative and qualitative surveys, applied to different themes: education, social action, professional integration, public health, urban dynamics. The MS track (entirely in English from the M2) gives priority to themes related to the issue of migration, in a multi- and transdisciplinary way: fight against discrimination, issues related to integration, etc. The SNT track presents the achievements in the sociology of digital activities, focusing on the new web professions, and links them with regional issues (open data, social innovation, etc.).
