The objective of the double Bachelor's program in History/Literature (or Literature /History) is to impart both a historical and a literary culture (modern or classical) as complete as possible, as well as methodologies used in both disciplines. With a focus on multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity, the double program covers all the historical periods and the literary and cultural productions that characterize them.

In addition to the transversal know-how mastered by any Bachelor student (autonomy, adaptation, organization of work, mastery of tools, etc.), students following the double Bachelor's program in History/Literature or Literature/History acquire know-how specific to each discipline. This includes a core foundation of historical, literary and linguistic knowledge spanning the four academic periods (ancient, medieval, modern, contemporary) and of the methods specific to each discipline (fine analysis of the language, critical reading, commentary on texts or images, various editorial exercises, translation, oral presentation, interpretation of documents, construction of arguments, ability to be didactic, and, for those who choose the "classical literature" track, the in-depth study of Greek and Latin and an introduction to classical and medieval philology.). These scientific and practical skills are an essential foundation for any career related to the historical and literary disciplines. Future opportunities are mainly found in teaching, research, documentation and cultural heritage management (libraries, archives, museums), the public service, etc.

Students enrolled in the Double Bachelor's program in History/Literature or Literature/History take approximately 70% of the courses of each program (which gives them a double degree) and all the foreign language units. The Double Bachelor's Degree introduces students to the great diversity of historical and literary sources: textual (archives, newspapers, literary works), iconographic and archaeological sources. The themes and historical and literary approaches are multiplied over the three years of the degree program. Students become familiar with the tools (paper books, databases, online journals, digitized documents) and techniques of academic work (compiling a bibliography, citing references, critiquing unreliable information).
