The DistriSup Management professional Bachelor's degree, jointly designed by leading retailers and universities, prepares you for the job of department manager. The DistriSup Management vocational Bachelor's degree is a State-recognized degree that also confers a professional qualification. It's a three-year program that includes one year of work-study.


The objective of this program is to train department managers with the potential for a future career as managers in the retail industry. Department managers supervise a specialized department and perform several functions: Management: they are responsible for the administrative and financial management of their department. They apply procedures and manage goods and stock by organizing and controlling the supply chain. They conduct inventories, identify supply needs and issue purchasing orders. Sales: they apply the sales policy defined by the company. They follow merchandising rules to make the department attractive, carry out sales activities based on the indicators (margins, turnover, forecasts) and are in charge of department presentation. They analyze sales results and suggest adjustments. Management: they lead a team, apply the policies defined by their senior management, and ensure that laws, regulations and collective agreements are respected. They monitor and organize the development of staff competencies. They ensure customer service quality.


Understand and master the different aspects involved in managing a department from an organizational, financial and legal point of view: Understand the flow of goods (receiving/shelving, managing damaged goods, markdowns). Know and master software. Know how to manage stock and the supply chain. Manage purchasing: select products from group purchasing organizations, meet suppliers. Negotiate prices and quantities directly with suppliers (e.g. local products). Know how to read and build a dashboard in order to follow the key management indicators (stock, turnover, margin, markdowns). Ensure the quality of department labeling, cleanliness and safety. Know how to follow, analyze and understand the performance (achievement of objectives, etc.) of a department, sales activities, promotional campaigns (turnover, margin, purchases, expenses, etc.).
