BOOST Autumn school 2019 - Biocontrol Solutions for Plant Health

2019 BOOST Autumn School addressed the challenges and major themes of plant health and biocontrol by confronting the visions and expectations of professionals of the field.
Through workshops and plenary lectures, the program covered all aspects of plant health management from case study to research and innovation.
BOOST Autumn School also gave to selected participants a chance to informally discuss these topics with renowned international and local experts.


Program


Challenges in plant production and plant protection – Friday the 20th of September
With participation of Teodardo CALLES (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAO) and Anne Sophie ROY (European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization, EPPO)
-What are the challenges for global crop production?
-What are the sanitary problems in plant production?
-What is plant protection?


Agrochemistry and Agroecology – 23 and 24th
-What is agroecology? 
-Examples of agrosystems causing severe health and environmental issues
-Examples of durable agroecological systems.
Among the speakers: Jean-Marc Blazy (INRA Antilles), Anne-Violette Lavoir (Univ. Nice Sophia Antipolis), Amélie Lefevre (INRA, Domaine Expérimental Alénya Roussillon) Christian Mougin (INRA Versailles) and Jean-Benoit Morel (INRA Montpellier)


Biocontrol and management of plant health – 25 and 26th 
-Introduction, definitions
-Biocontrol and ecological management of plant health seen by different stakeholders.
Among the speakers: Cédric Bertrand (Univ. Perpignan), Laure Didierlaurent (Syngenta seeds), Enric Frago (CIRAD), Thibaut Malausa (INRA PACA Sophia) and Philippe Nicot (INRA PACA Avignon)


Posters and flash presentations – 25th from 4 to 6 pm
from master students and researchers involved in BOOST program, as part of “Environment, health, citizens” one of UCA Core Program


Research and innovation in biocontrol and plant health management – 26th and 27th
-Innovation in biocontrol:  background and players.
-Success stories in biocontrol research and innovation.
-Current challenges for research and innovation in ecological plant health management.
-Regulatory and socio-economic context: opportunities, barriers, levers.
Among the speakers: Olivier Couillerot (CIRAD), Maxime Ferrero (Consultant mites and insects production and management), Justune Lipuma (Mycophyto Startup), Thibaut Malausa (INRA PACA Sophia), Thomas Michel (Univ. Nice Sophia Antipolis), Aura Parmentier (Univ. Nice Sophia Antipolis) and Nicolas Ris (INRA PACA Sophia).
