Clinical research encompasses all scientific studies conducted on human subjects to advance biological or medical knowledge. This research is essential for better understanding and treating diseases, as well as identifying potential risk factors. Ultimately, it leads to the improvement of population health.
Clinical research is strictly regulated by bioethics laws, which ensure the respect and protection of individuals; it is carried out by physician-researchers.
To be effective, clinical research must rely on solid preclinical results and requires strong interaction with basic research teams to enable the application of innovative preclinical findings to patients.
With this in mind, Université Côte d'Azur created in January 2020 the Unité Propre de Recherche named UR2CA (Unité de Recherche Clinique Côte d’Azur), bringing together university hospital researchers whose clinical research themes were not previously represented in research structures under the supervision or joint supervision of Université Côte d'Azur. In May 2022, UR2CA became a Joint Research Unit (Unité Mixte de Recherche - UMR) under the joint supervision of CHU de Nice.
UR2CA teams are located at CHU de Nice across the Hôpital l’Archet, Hôpital Pasteur, and Hôpital Cimiez sites.
UR2CA is a host laboratory for M1 and M2 students, physicians, PhD candidates, as well as students from EUR LIFE & HEALTH, Cogmaster, and École Normale Supérieure.
