Thèmes de recherche

Since the beginning of 2015, our team has adopted a new approach allowing a study at the single cell level, through a project supported by the Cancéropôle PACA, the french association “Vaincre la Mucoviscidose”, the national infrastructure France Génomique and CD06. Collection of data across millions of cells allow us to study the elementary cells that constitute a human lung, and to analyze their properties under different experimental conditions, either normal, such as development, or pathological conditions, such as in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, asthma, lung cancer, plumonary hypertension.
Our group is engaged into the "Human Cell Atlas", an international effort to create a reference atlas of all the cells of the human body. The goal is to establish a resource accessible to all for studies in biology / medicine. Project partners commit to building a freely available and easily accessible resource to access data, and to develop the software and standards required for data analysis and sharing, based on best open-source and collaborative development practices. The Human Cell Atlas is a large-scale, long-term international project involving many of the world's leading research institutions. As one of the 38 pilot projects, we develop tools and technologies needed to build an Atlas of the 1013 human cells that make a human body.
The team achieves its research works in close association with the Platform of Functional Genomics, created in 1999 with the support of numerous public and private partners. This allows many biology research teams to gain access to the most advanced high-throughput sequencing technologies (Next Seq 500 Illumina, Oxford Nanopore), and spatial transcriptomics (Merscope, Vizgen; Xenium, 10X Genomics).
