A founding member of the South-East Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, the CRHI is a multidisciplinary laboratory founded in 1983 as part of the Université Côte d'Azur Department of Philosophy. Its research falls within the field of the history of ideas, understood as a specific transversal discipline which, beyond the exclusively conceptual history of philosophy, aims to study "ideas", realities that cannot be exhaustively explored through philosophical analysis, the study of which involves several disciplinary, historical, artistic, literary, scientific and technical fields. The CRHI welcomes and encourages research that can be grouped into four main themes: – Epistemology, history of science, logic, theory of knowledge; – Aesthetics, history and philosophy of art; – Philosophy of law, philosophy of social sciences, history of moral and political philosophy; – Phenomenology and anthropology. Since 1995, the CRHI has published a biannual philosophy review, Noesis.
