Paolo Zeppini

I am an associate professor in economics (Maitre de conference, HDR) with a background in physics. I write mathematical models describing complex economic systems, phenomena of self-organisation, `emergence' and tipping points originating from non-linearities of human behaviour and interactions within social structure.

The main axes of my research are the following:
- economic change and transitions as social tipping points of collective behaviours
- financial markets dynamics, investment decisions, and behavioural asset pricing
- green transitions from the bottom-up, applied to energy sources competition
- the circular economy, modeled with diffusion models and network structure
- evolutionary dynamics of preferences: temptation and honesty

I hold the chair Collegium of Advanced Studies of the IDEX Universite' Cote d'Azur with the project PHASES (Social Phase Transitions), call ANR15-IDEX-01.

Since 1st October 2025 I am the coordinator of the project ABSolEU (Paving the way for an ABS recycling revolution in the EU) HORIZON-CL4-2021-RESILIENCE-01 call.

I regularly teach courses in the following subjects:
