Founded in 2004 to facilitate scientific collaboration between the Nice Institute for Nonlinear Science (INLN), the Laboratory of Condensed Matter Physics (LPMC) and the Jean Alexandre Dieudonné Mathematics Laboratory (LJAD), the Döblin Research Federation has expanded with the gradual addition of new entities: the CRHEA, a CNRS laboratory specializing in the epitaxy of semiconductor materials, the LAGRANGE, ARTEMIS and GEOAZUR laboratories of Côte d'Azur Observatory and the CEMEF laboratories of MINES ParisTech based at the Ecole des Mines in Sophia Antipolis. Currently, following the merger of the INLN and the LPMC into a single laboratory called INPHYNI, the Döblin Federation has 7 laboratories. The role of the Döblin Federation is to strengthen physics, astrophysics, geophysics and applied mathematics in the Nice region. Its mission is therefore to federate these 7 laboratories (ARTEMIS, CEMEF, CRHEA, GEOAZUR, INPHYNI, LAGRANGE and LJAD) around the common themes of nonlinear and nonequilibrium physics, materials physics, light-matter interactions, fluid mechanics and soft matter. The Döblin Federation is under the governance of Université Côte d'Azur, CNRS and Côte d'Azur Observatory.
