The Cargèse Institute of Scientific Studies, UMS 820, is a scientific conference center under the governance of Université Côte d'Azur, CNRS and the University of Corsica. The scientific meetings that take place at Cargèse aim to promote scientific interactions and the exchange of ideas in emerging scientific fields. Although the Institute has a reputation primarily in mathematics and physics, we also strongly encourage proposals for schools in economics, the environment, biology and chemistry. The Institute particularly supports conferences in innovative and transdisciplinary scientific fields: aspects of fundamental research as well as new technological developments can benefit from the exchanges of knowledge stimulated during these meetings. Any scientifically qualified person can submit a project. Applications must be submitted electronically. A written proposal in the required format, available online after registration, is reviewed by the Scientific Director and then by the members of the Scientific Advisory Board. The latter brings together experts of international standing in a wide range of scientific disciplines. It meets four times a year (typically in March, June, September and December) to assess and select the most promising proposals. Once a project has been selected, its organizer is responsible for obtaining funding, defining the program and speakers, and selecting participants, as well as the final organization of the event. Meetings can be recurrent, on an annual or biennial basis or less. The proposals for recurring meetings go through the same assessment procedure. It is the responsibility of organizers to ensure the diversification / evolution of the programs of recurring events. School or conference proposals can be submitted at any time. However, they should reach the Institute as early as possible (ideally 18-24 months in advance) in order to allow for evaluation and scheduling of the program.
