Introduction
The Master’s in Training and Optimization of Sports Performance aims to educate training professionals (physical preparation, psychological, computer video technologies for analyzing sports performance, etc.) in the high-level federal sports sector, or alternatively, specialists in the maintenance of physical life for healthy public. The Physical Preparation and Reathletisation track offers an approach combining theory, practice and scientific approach to teach sports training, physical preparation and re-training professionals, as well as sports science researchers. The program is mainly associated with the Laboratory for Human Motricity, Expertise, Sport, Health, a multidisciplinary laboratory in life sciences and health and human and social sciences. It is based in the first line of research of the laboratory on the issues of "sports performance". The research projects developed in this area focus on the factors of performance optimization, as well as mechanisms for recovery and prevention of injuries, which are at the heart of training. The LAPCOS, CoBTEK + and IRCAN laboratories also provide research support for the STAPS EOPS Master course, and the I3S laboratory offers secondary research support.
Objectives
The main skills acquired by the end of this program are: - Measurement, evaluation and analysis: develop measurement protocols adapted to sports performance, analyze, integrate and communicate the results. - Design: build training, physical preparation and re-training programs to optimize sports performance. - Implementation: supervise athletes and pilot the sports project within a multidisciplinary team. - Management and administration: build and direct the sport project for optimization of performance. - Research and development: use the scientific approach to innovate and optimize sports performance.
Specificities
The Teaching Units for the program address the quantitative and qualitative methodological toolsof assessment, quantification and planning of training, in a multidisciplinary approach (physiology, biomechanics, functional anatomy, nutrition, psychological aspects). These tools are applied, notably through case analyses and practical exercises, physical preparation, injury prevention, psychological support and re-athleticization of the athlete. The scientific process is at the heart of the theory-practice link. Teaching is provided by faculty in science and technology of physical and sports activities, and recognized professionals in the field of physical preparation and re-training. The master’s programis offered in continuity over two years. The program is organized into 5 UE of 6 ECTS for each semester. The "cross-curricular competencies" UE and part of a second UE on methodological tools and research training will be cross-credtied with the Adapted Physical Activity and Health (APAS) program. In the "cross-curricular competence", UE students will start with theoretical training and will take charge of a group of students in the framework of the tutorial projects set up in the STAPS licence degree. The Professional and Research Project(PPR) aims to train students in the management of a scientific project in physical preparation and/ or re-training in a reception center (professional club, sports club, sports medicine center, federation sports, private structure dealing with physical preparation and/or re-athleticization). During the Master 1, this PPR of 15 ECTS corresponds to scientific methodology courses and a training period of at least 150 hours of intervention in a sports facility or research laboratory. In M2, the PPR corresponds to 30 ECTS for which students must establish their project in a host structure (i.e., sports structure or laboratory) during an internship with a minimum duration of 350h. At the end of M2, the PPR is evaluated according to a thesis and an oral defense. Specific arrangements can accommodate different audiences such as working students, high-level athletes, mainly with the possibility of dispensing attendance requirements but also support/tutoring courses for top athletes. The gradual evolution of courses towards a "distance learning" format (FAD) will also facilitate continuing education.
