This program, part of the University School of Research in Fundamental Sciences and Engineering (Spectrum), is both dynamic and comprehensive, inviting you to harness the potential of organic chemistry to tackle the demands of modern medicine. The curriculum is built upon three scientific pillars dedicated to Bioorganic Chemistry, Modern Chemistry, and Medicinal Chemistry, complemented by a set of cross-cutting skills in Management and Communication, equipping you with valuable tools for your future as a medicinal or bioorganic chemist.

Objectives
The objectives of this master's program are to enhance and refine the theoretical and practical training of chemistry students by providing them with the interdisciplinary knowledge necessary to prepare them for future opportunities and careers.
Building upon a strong foundation in organic chemistry, students will develop skills at the interface of chemistry and biology to prepare them for doctoral studies in medicinal or bioorganic chemistry, or for roles as researchers or project managers in the therapeutics industry.
This program also aligns with local training coherence, particularly by providing a suitable continuation for the chemistry-biology bachelor's degree program that has been in place for several years, and by offering opportunities for doctoral research in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or therapeutics within the laboratories of the Institute of Chemistry of Nice, or elsewhere.

The Master in Medicinal & Bioorganic Chemistry (MedBioChem) is affiliated with the Institute of Chemistry of Nice (UMR 7272 CNRS), located on the Valrose Campus in Nice.
The Institute of Chemistry of Nice is structured into four distinct research teams:
- The "Aromas - Perfumes - Syntheses - Modeling" team,
- The "Bioactive Molecules" team,
- The "Human and Environmental Radiochemistry" team,
- And the "Eco-Compatible Materials and Polymers" team.
The Institute also incorporates a Technological Platform, consisting of three common services (NMR, mass spectrometry, and molecular modeling).

Prerequisites training
To be admitted to the Master in Medicinal & Bioorganic Chemistry (MedBioChem), students must:
- Have training in organic chemistry,
- Have training in bioorganic chemistry,
- Have training in biological chemistry,
- Have training in pharmaceutical chemistry,
- Have training in molecular pharmacology.

Content of the academic programm
Theoretical classes, conducted in English, are organized during the first semester, while the second semester is dedicated to a 6-month research internship (paid) in an academic or industrial laboratory.

Assessment
The evaluation / exam periods:
• 1st semester: 09/12/24 – 20/12/24
• 2nd semester: 01/07/25 – 10/07/25
Final exam, presentation, internship report, thesis defense. No retakes except in exceptional cases, which will be reviewed by the commission.
