Introduction

This program is built around a dynamic relationship between theoretical and practical learning. It analyzes the performing arts and the artistic, cultural and social issues involved, establishes transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary connections between the performing arts and art theory, and focuses on experimentation and processes.

The main objective of this training program is to provide students with the basic tools needed to acquire the general, scientific and artistic education required to obtain a Bachelor's degree. This program develops critical thinking on the conditions for designing and implementing live performances, placing the process of theatrical and choreographic creation in the field of contemporary arts. It also takes into account the cultural diversity of spectacular forms, their history, traditions and heritage, and how they are accepted, including so-called "experimental", "traditional" and "minority" forms. The specific features of this program are: the dynamic relationship between theoretical and practical learning, the analytical study of the performing arts and the artistic, cultural and social issues involved, the transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary connections between the performing arts and art theory, and lastly the focus on experimentation and processes. These courses are complementary tools that strengthen the relationship between academic training and career opportunities, and thus form a good basis for future employment.

After two years in the general "performing arts" track in the first and second year, specialization is offered in dance or theatrical studies in the third year. These two tracks allow students to specialize in one of the two fields, dance or theater, and acquire the specific skills required to meet the expectations of the professional environment. Students can combine the Bachelor's program in performing arts with the Bachelor's program in ethnology and obtain a dual license (by validating the core units of each program) in the field of ethnology of the living arts.
