Special measures in STAPS

1. In general, the University of Nice's examination and MCC charters apply to all STAPS portal degrees.

2. For each UE and ECUE, knowledge is assessed by means of an integral continuous assessment, except for students benefiting from a special status (salaried student, high-level sports student, student with a disability, family carer, etc.).This does not apply to students with special status (student employees, high-level sportsmen and women, disabled students, students with families, elected representatives, high-level artists, students enrolled in a double course of study, student entrepreneurs), who must submit a request to the Registrar's Office by the specified deadline.

3. Any UE acquired is definitive. In the event of repetition, it cannot be retaken the following year in order to improve the grade of the acquired UE.

4. Any student absent from an assessment is marked ABI (Absence Unjustified) or ABJ (Absence Justified). In both cases, the mark 0 is used for all calculations.

5. Taking attendance into account: absence from more than 25% of sessions may mean that the expected skills cannot be assessed (defaulting student status : DEF), resulting in a grade of 0 for continuous assessment and referral to session 2. For example: a maximum of two absences authorized out of ten sessions, one absence authorized out of five sessions. For all other courses, attendance cannot be taken into account in any form of assessment.

6. Students who have been absent for a long period of time, for reasons of health or injury, may, after certification by the Université Côte d'AzurThe student must inform the preventive medicine service of the Université Côte d'Azur of any such absence. The student must inform the Registrar's Office before making any arrangements with SUMPPS. For long-term absences of any other nature, the student may request a waiver from the head of training (via the schooling department) to be assessed during the SP session.

7. Bachelor's degree
  • 7.1. Compensation between STAPS UEs within a semester is subject to a minimum grade of 08/20 in the STAPS UEs. The UE Compétences transversales non compensable is validated if and only if the ECUE Anglais is higher than 8/20. The final grade for the semester is the average of the UEs. If the semester is not passed, the UEs with a final grade of 10/20 or higher are passed. No other UE is acquired, and no other grade is retained for any subsequent repeat.
  • 7.2. There is full and automatic compensation between the two semesters (odd then even) of an academic year. The final grade for the year is the average of the final grades for each semester. The year is acquired if its final grade is greater than or equal to 10/20, if the UEs are greater than 08/20, if the average of the STAPS UEs is greater thanis higher than 10 and if the ECUE English for transversal skills is higher than 8/20 (except in 1st year).
  • 7.3. All students who fail Session 1 may sit Session 2. When a student takes a Session 2 exam, the Session 2 mark for the UE concerned cancels and replaces the Session 1 mark.
  • 7.4. Personalized progression rule applicable to ECUEs: Specialty APSAs : A student repeating a year who has passed the 2 APSA specialty ECUs in the odd and even semesters of the same year may be authorized to take the corresponding ECUs in the year above.

8. Professional license

To obtain the diploma, students must have an overall average of 10/20 on all teaching units, including the project and internship. Compensation between ECUEs and between UEs is done without eliminatory marks. To be awarded the diploma, students must obtain an average of 10/20 for the entire course, including the internship and tutored project. A second examination session is organized before July for students who have not met the requirements for graduation at the time of the tests. The mark obtained in this examination replaces the mark obtained in the mid-term. The same compensation rules apply to the 2nd session.

If the licence is not awarded, the teaching units in which the average is greater than or equal to 10/20 can be capitalized. Following two successive failures to obtain the professional license, the student may only re-enroll in the program after having obtained a favorable opinion from the diploma's pedagogical council.

9. In Master EOPS and APAS:

  • 9.1. Compensation is applied between ECTS-bearing entities within a semester, with the exception of the Professional and Research Project UE in Master 1, which cannot be compensated and cannot compensate the others.
  • 9.2. The semester is passed if the final mark is greater than or equal to 10/20. If the semester is not passed, ECTS-bearing units with a final grade of 10/20 or higher are passed. No other ECTS-bearing entity is acquired, and no other grade is retained for any subsequent repeat. (Semester compensation is definitive five days after publication of the results, unless the student refuses it in writing to the Registrar's Office).
  • 9.3. Only grades of 10 or above will be carried over to session 2.
  • 9.4. The two semesters of an academic year cannot be offset. The final grade for the year is the average of the final grades for each semester. The year is passed if the two semesters are passed independently.
  • 9.5 In Master 1, the Professional Project and Research UE are taken as a Final Examination in a single session (no Session 2).
  • 9.6 In Master 2, assessment is by continuous assessment in a single session (no Session 2). 9.7 Only one repeat year is permitted for the entire Master's program.

10 - In Master MS

MCC specific to this master's program on the Excel sheet.

11. In DU

The rules for compensation within a semester and between semesters of an academic year depend on the course. If nothing is indicated in the program's MCC, the same rules apply as for Licences.

12. Anti-plagiarism rule, applicable to all courses
"Students who hand in an assignment, dissertation or any other written document used to assess their knowledge and skills as part of their course must ensure that it does not contain a sentence, paragraph or, more generally, a plagiarized passage. Students must be sure to cite the sources used in their writing. The student is liable to sanctions and/or disciplinary proceedings in the event of proven plagiarism. Plagiarism may be considered as fraud."

13. Students benefiting from one of the Statuts Particuliers

  • 13.1. Students wishing to obtain the status of "Sportif de Haut Niveau" (SHN) must apply to the "Responsable Sport de Haut Niveau" at the Université de Nice for the semester or year in question, in accordance with the procedures set out on the university website. Only the SHN Commission of the UNS has the final say on this status, and the SHNU manager of the Faculty of Sports Science is informed in the event of validation. The student may then request exemption from attendance for the UE or ECUE of his or her choice. In this case, the student will only be assessed in the Final Examination during the session reserved for students with special status (session SP), and any marks obtained in the Continuous Examinations will be disregarded. This choice is final and cannot be changed during the semester.
  • 13.2. Students must apply to the Registrar's Office for salaried student status for the semester, exclusively at the beginning of the semester (deadlines are published by the Registrar's Office). If this status is approved by the Registrar's Office, the course supervisor is informed. If this status is refused by the Registrar's Office, it may still be granted on an exceptional basis by the STAPS portal's Director of Studies. This status entitles the student to exemption from attendance requirements for the UE and ECUE of his/her choice. In this case, the student is only assessed in the Final Examination, and any marks obtained in the Continuous Examinations are disregarded. This choice is final and cannot be changed during the semester.
  • 13.3. Students must apply to the CAÉH (Cellule d'Accueil des Étudiants Handicapés) for disabled student status for the semester or year. The CAÉH is the sole decision-maker for this status, and the course supervisor is informed in the event of validation. In accordance with CAEH recommendations, study and examination arrangements will be set up with the training supervisor.
  • 13.4. High-level sportsmen and women, salaried employees and disabled students who have requested this status will sit only the Final Examination tests of the Special Status session for the UEs or ECUEs they have selected, and will be assessed exclusively on these.
14. Semester, year and diploma juries are sovereign.

The soccer specialist develops expertise in fundamental, technical, didactic, scientific and cultural aspects, to intervene in the activity with a variety of audiences, primarily as a trainer. The soccer specialist's training encourages students to distance themselves from their own practice, enabling them to move from the status of player-spectator to that of soccer observer-analyst.In so doing, they develop their knowledge of the historical, physiological, psychological, economic and sociological dimensions of the activity.
Finally, the student specialist must reflect on the soccer activity in relation to his or her career path.
