The Master’s in Mathematics and Applications develops advanced skills in theoretical mathematics: algebra, analysis and geometry. It also teaches complex phenomena from, for example, economics, finance, physics, mechanics, biology, medicine, and their processing by stochastic and statistical methods and intensive calculation. Three tracks are offered within the Mathematics and Applications master’s program: Mathematical Engineering (IM) 40% in English in M2 Fundamental Mathematics (MF) 100% in French Pure and Applied Mathematics (MPA) 100% in English in M2

The master’s program also makes it possible to independently pose relevant and lucid questions on an advanced problem of pure or applied mathematics to a complex phenomenon from the socio-economic or industrial world. The student is thus able to propose several strategies to solve this problem. "Pure and Applied Mathematics"track: the student acquires the necessary knowledge to carry out a thesis and to become a researcher or higher education facultys. "Fundamental Mathematics"track: the student acquires the necessary knowledge to pass teaching competitions such as Capes and Agrégation. "Mathematical Engineering" track: the student develops transversal skills in computer science, mechanics, economics, finance, etc., provided by professionals and acquired during internships. The student is also prepared for immediate insertion into the job market.

Master 1 The mathematical program supported by the mathematics department is based on: 7 modules in Semester 1 (of which 5 are common for all three tracks) 8 modules in Semester 2 (of which 2 are common for all three tracks) The three tracks are based on 50% common courses. In Master 1, the Fundamental and Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics tracks are identical. Students choose freely between these two tracks in the second year. Semesters 1 and 2 are organized on a minimum of five disciplinary modules. In Master 1, Mathematical Engineering track, Semester 1 is organized around 4 disciplinary modules (Probabilities-Statistics, Digital Analysis and Scientific Computing) and Semester 2 around 3 disciplinary modules. Semester 2 aims to teach probabilities and statistics and digital analysis and intensive computing tools but also to provide extra mathematical skills (computer science, economics, finance, mechanics, use of software or specific languages). This specialty is thus orientated towards the socio-economic world and trains future engineers or executives and future PhD students in industrial environments or in research laboratories on applied topics using cross-functional skills. Master 2 During this year of specialization, the Professional Research Project (PPR) in semester 4 is the common teaching unit for the three tracks. Each student builds an elective curriculum according to their professional and research project (PPR). * Fundamental Mathematics Track(all courses in this track are in French) In semester 3, five mathematics courses are required: Topology and Differential Calculus Groups and Geometry Linear and bilinear algebra Integration and holomorphism Real Analysis and Probability In semester 4, the PPR consists of supervised personal work. It consists of workshops of structured knowledge, modeling and simulation, as well as reverse pedagogy sessions where students are encouraged to teach each other. * Pure and Applied Mathematics Track (all courses in this track are in English) Semester 3 offers elective courses to be chosen from among the 15 specialized courses on the topics of Analysis and Numerical Analysis, Algebra, Geometry and Dynamics or Probability and Statistics. Note that among these modules: some are part of the Erasmus Mundus Mathmods program and the EDHEC convention program; some are part of the Master International Euro-Maghreb M2IEM. In semester 4, the PPR consists of an internship or the preparation of a thesis in a research laboratory (usually LJAD). * Mathematical Engineering Track(all courses in this track are in English) This course offers a second year apprenticeship. Semester 3 consists of elective courses to be chosen from among a set of Teaching Units, with many transversal courses. The courses offered are part of the following Teaching Units: UE Fundamental and Applied Mathematics UE Digital UE Professions UE SSHES UE Graduation Project In semester 4, the PPR corresponds to an 4 to 6 month internship in a company (for apprentices, during Semester 3, 2 days a week will be spent in a company).
