Description du projet
CONTEXTE
For the first time, the intended project seeks to understand the relevance, challenges, and potential of hip hop pedagogy in European education systems. In contrast to the United States, the field of hip hop pedagogy remains little explored in Europe. The project therefore addresses various challenges that European schools and universities face: migrations, income inequality, and the decreasing academic achievement of students due to the pandemic.
OBJECTIFS
The goal of the project is to build a network to prepare an application for a Horizon Europe grant, bringing together partners from academia, schools, and the cultural sector to form a transnational and transdisciplinary consortium.
The project aims to help on the one hand students to receive more individual support based on their lived experiences and on the other hand to help instructors to create a greater awareness of navigating the complex demands of their students.
MÉTHODE
This project marks the initiation of a research program:
- - Bibliographical research : analysis of existing literature on teaching strategies, teaching tools, and digital approaches in student-centered hip hop pedagogy.
- - Development of a didactic model illustrating how hip hop pedagogy - might be used to work with students, instructors, and trainers, and collaboration with students and trainers to identify best practices
- - Building of a network of active European partners (in-person and online meetings and collective works) to submit a grant proposal to he Horizon Europe funding scheme, aiming to:
- collaboratively create a survey exploring how both digital and non-digital tools inspired by hip hop can assist teachers in effectively managing diversity in the classroom while fostering solidarity
- model existing studies to assess the impact of student-centered hip hop pedagogy on these themes
- strengthen local partnerships with Marseille through active collaboration with the AMPIRIC PIA project (Education for Citizenship and Civic Engagement project)
- publish hip hop education resources for instructors and students as Open Educational Resource (OER)
Interdisciplinarité et partenariats
The project fosters a regular dialogue between a range of disciplines, such as education sciences, sociology, cultural studies, musicology, ethnology and psychology.
