Axis 3: Responsibilities
One of the difficulties frequently encountered in new developments in the field of the living and the artificial has to do with how responsibility is assigned. From nanotechnology to biotechnology, from the epigenetic to the digital, it is becoming increasingly difficult to understand responsibility in classical terms, as the assignation of a causality, which implies a linear view of the connection between causes and consequences.
The Chair will reflect on new ways of thinking about responsibility within these domains, in particular by envisioning forms of responsibility that are not causal but rather relational; by seeing responsibility as part of a network. New philosophical concepts will be mobilized in close connection with practices and will make it possible to identify various levels and combinations of responsibilities.
