ISJPS

The Institut des Sciences Juridique et Philosophique de la Sorbonne (ISJPS; the Institute of Juridical and Philosophical Sciences at the Sorbonne) is a research department administered by the Université Paris 1 and the CNRS (French National Center for Research). It brings together some fifty researchers and professors and over 300 doctoral students working in the domains of law and philosophy. Beyond the work they do within their respective disciplines, jurists and philosophers at the ISJPS share a common research focus: the role, forms, and impact of normative phenomena in the transformations of contemporary society. They approach this topic from four major socio-economic points of view: the environment, democracy, corporate social responsibility, and gender.

Drawing on its dynamic research and benefitting from the international reputations of its professors and researchers (who have been awarded ANR, GIP Justice, and other national contracts as well as ERC and GDR grants) and from its presence within numerous networks and spaces of reflection and expertise (the Normes, Sciences et techniques research group, OPECST, the Réseau thématique interdisciplinaire Génomique, etc.), the ISJPS contributes to connecting fundamental research to national and international debates.

The ISJPS has its own book series and awards the Delmas-Marty dissertation prize through the publisher Mare & Martin.
